Police remove protesters from Nadakkavu road

Kozhikode: CPM district secretary P Mohanan alleged that Islamic terrorists and Maoists are joining hands in the protests against the establishment of the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Avikkal Thodu in the city. In a press conference, the senior CPM leader said the presence of anti-national elements and organisations is a matter of concern.

"CPM had earlier pointed out that radical elements are behind the Avikkal protest. The three individuals arrested on Tuesday from the area were earlier charged under the UAPA act. This shows that CPM's assumptions were true. There was a suspicion that urban Maoist elements were active in Kozhikode city. Now it has now come to light," he said. He added that Maoist presence has become visible in cases involving SDPI.

He also questioned MK Raghavan, MP, whether it was right on his part to support such a protest.

He pointed out that Maoists, a group disappearing from the public view, now rely on Islamists to carry out a revolution they envisioned. Therefore, they are coming together against projects that could massively benefit the city, he added.
