Kochi: Uma Thomas, MLA, who sustained serious injuries after falling from the stage during a dance performance in Kerala, has been discharged from the hospital after 46 days of treatment.
The incident occurred when she fell from a temporary stage erected at Kaloor Stadium in Kochi. Uma Thomas was admitted to the hospital on December 29 at around 6:30 pm, following the fall, which left her critically injured. Initially placed on a ventilator, she was later moved to the ICU as her condition improved.
In a post shared on Facebook on Wednesday, Uma Thomas expressed her gratitude to the doctors, nurses, support staff, colleagues, friends, and family who cared for her throughout her recovery. She was given a warm send-off by the hospital staff as she left the hospital. Although she has been discharged, the doctors have recommended a few more weeks of rest and limited visits to aid in her full recovery.
"I look forward to seeing everyone again with heartfelt gratitude. Let us reunite soon. I am eagerly waiting for those moments," she wrote.
The MLA had fallen from a constructed stage onto a concrete slab from a height of fifteen feet during the Guinness World Records event, which featured a performance by 11,600 dancers led by Divya Unni.
