Kochi: A man has been arrested in connection with an accident that left MLA Uma Thomas with severe injuries on Sunday.

Krishna Kumar, the manager of Oscar Events, was earlier taken into custody on Monday following a stage mishap during a dance event at Kaloor Stadium, where the MLA sustained injuries after falling from the stage.

Police are currently collecting evidence with Kumar at the stadium as part of the ongoing investigation. The Public Works Department (PWD) has been tasked with inspecting the stage to prepare a scientific report detailing any structural failures.

Preliminary findings from the police investigation indicate that the stage was poorly constructed and lacked essential safety measures. Kumar personally invited Uma Thomas to the event.

The arrangement reportedly did not include proper barricades, leaving insufficient space for movement.
