The UDF emerged ahead of the LDF by 1.138 million votes in Kerala’s local body elections, according to final figures from the State Election Commission.

Thiruvananthapuram: In the local body elections, the United Democratic Front (UDF) secured 5.36 percentage points more votes than the Left Democratic Front (LDF), according to the final figures released by the State Election Commission. This translates into an advantage of 11.38 lakh votes. The UDF won 38.81 per cent of the votes, while the LDF secured 38.45 per cent. The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) received 14.71 per cent.
These figures exclude independent candidates. The Commission includes independent candidates and political parties that are not part of any front under the category “Others”. This group accounts for 13.08 per cent of the total votes. Independents won in 1,402 wards.
At the panchayat level, the UDF polled 5.15 percentage points more votes than the LDF, while the margin was 8.97 percentage points in municipalities and 1.28 percentage points in corporations.
The NDA recorded its highest vote share in corporations at 28.58 per cent. Its share was 13.92 per cent at the panchayat level and 14.40 per cent in municipalities.
