Thiruvananthapuram: The United Democratic Front (UDF) will convene a meeting on Wednesday to discuss and evaluate preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

The party will also examine the topics that will be raised throughout its electoral campaign to prevent the LDF and BJP from making any advances in the polls. At the same time, the meeting will also pick a date to finalise seat-sharing arrangements with coalition partners.

Meanwhile, the assembly session is expected to be wrapped up by February 9. If such is the case, the KPCC president and Opposition leader would start their statewide march called 'Samaragni Jadha'.

In the previous Lok Sabha polls, the Indian Union Muslim League fielded two candidates in the state, while the Kerala Congress and RSP stood one each. This year, the League is likely to demand three seats. If Rahul Gandhi does not contest in Wayanad, the League is likely to seek the constituency or a seat in Malabar.

It is still unclear whether Congress will be ready to agree to the League's demand. However, the CPM recently tried to influence the League to join LDF, prompting Congress to take emergency measures to thwart such a move.

At the same time, Congress hopes to rekindle its electoral victory from the last Parliamentary elections, when the grand old party won 15 of the 16 seats for which it fielded candidates, except Alappuzha.
