Malappuram: A youth was allegedly beaten by two police persons after he filmed them buying liquor from a Bevco outlet outside permitted hours. The incident occurred at the Edappal Kandanakam Bevco outlet last night.

The youth, who was in the area to buy groceries from a nearby shop, noticed two persons purchasing liquor from the Bevco outlet at 9:35 pm, even though the permitted working hours end at 9 pm. The youth captured the scene on his mobile phone, despite the gate and shutter of the outlet being closed. However, some workers were still present in the outlet's godown.

As the two persons saw the youth filming, they identified themselves as being from the Changaramkulam police station and subsequently attacked him. It was later confirmed that both were indeed from the Changaramkulam police station.

Neither the police nor the Bevco authorities have provided any explanation regarding the incident so far.
