Some weddings are remembered for their décor, others for grand celebrations. A wedding in Kerala's Changanassery has become memorable for a far more unusual reason — nearly every major role in the ceremony was played by twins.

The wedding, held at the Changanassery Metropolitan Church on Thursday, saw twin brothers Akhil K Thomas and Nikhil K Thomas marry twin sisters Magi Mary Thomas and Maria Mary Thomas in a ceremony that delighted guests with its rare and carefully planned theme.

As Akhil exchanged vows with Magi, his twin brother Nikhil stood beside him with Maria, creating a striking moment that quickly became the highlight of the celebration.

The unique ceremony didn't stop there. The marriage was solemnised by twin priests, Fr Anto Pezhumkattil and Fr Ajo Pezhumkattil of the Kanjirappally Diocese, while twin brothers Jeron James and Johon James from Pala assisted them at the altar.

The remarkable arrangement was no coincidence.

According to the families, the twin sisters had long dreamed of celebrating their wedding surrounded by fellow twins. Determined to make it happen, they even searched for twin priests and eventually found them through a church in Kothanalloor, known for hosting gatherings of twins.

"It had been our dream since childhood to have a wedding surrounded by twins," the sisters said.

"Our parents and family also wished for it. Jesus Christ made it happen. When we invited the priests, they immediately agreed to come."

For Fr Anto and Fr Ajo, the wedding was unlike any they had officiated before.

"Officiating at the wedding of twins is very special," they said.

"It is an experience that gives us memories for a lifetime. Such occasions remind us of goodness and togetherness."

Reflecting on their own journey as twins, they added that the occasion held a deeper meaning.

"They were born together and they are beginning a new life together. We, too, entered the priesthood together. These are beautiful memories."

Two families, one extraordinary celebration

The grooms, Akhil and Nikhil, are the twin sons of Kunjumon Thomas and Jomol of Vettuparambil, Changanassery. The brides, Magi and Maria, are the twin daughters of Tomichan and Marykutty of Kumbuluvelil in Kulathoor, Pathanamthitta district.

While the brothers work in the Merchant Navy, the sisters are employed in the IT sector. Their careers may have taken different paths, but they began a new chapter together in a ceremony that reflected the unique bond they have shared since birth.
