Malappuram: Trinamool Congress national leaders Mahua Moitra and Derek O'Brien visited Panakkad Sadikali Shihab Thangal, state president, Indian Union Muslim League at Panakkad on Saturday. The leaders arrived at Panakkad along with Trinamool Congress state coordinator P.V. Anwar.
The meeting is seen as part of Anwar's political manoeuvre after leaving the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and resigning from the MLA position, awaiting entry into the United Democratic Front (UDF). The Trinamool Congress leaders had a long discussion with Thangal. The discussion gains political attention as it is being held ahead of the UDF meeting which is scheduled to be held on February 27.
"Trinamool MPs have come to Kerala for their party's programme. When they arrived in Malappuram, they expressed a desire to visit Panakkad, " Sadikali Thangal said. He added that no political matters were discussed and that it was a friendly visit. This is the second time Anwar has visited Panakkad after resigning from his MLA position. On Sunday, a meeting of TMC delegates will be held in Manjeri.
