Alappuzha: A major mishap was averted on Tuesday in the Kizhakke Nada Government UP School near Chengannur as a huge tree fell onto a tile-roofed building of the school. School time had ended and students had left the class rooms when the accident happened.

Yet, two students and a teacher were injured. Two parents also sustained minor injuries. The children were injured by the tile pieces that hit them due to the impact of the tree fall.

People associated with the school administration claimed that the local self government was requested to cut down the dangerous tree but it did not act.
