Thiruvananthapuram: A treasury officer sustained injuries after a tree uprooted and fell over him in Sreekaryam, Thiruvananthapuram. The injured has been identified as Tahir. The incident took place when the officer and his colleagues were coming out of the treasury office building.
As per reports, Tahir was holding his umbrella as it was raining. Soon after, the tree fell over him and he was unable to move. Following which, colleagues rushed him to a nearby hospital.
However, Tahir was shifted to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital as his condition worsened later. He suffered injuries to his skull, backbone and thigh bones.
There were demands to fell the tree, which was posing a threat to the passengers and residents. Apparently, the tree uprooted after soil eroded from its base owing to the rains.
