Kerala High Court denies parole to TP Chandrasekharan murder convict Sijith for child’s ceremony.

Kochi: The Kerala High Court has denied parole to Sijith, the sixth accused in the TP Chandrasekharan murder case, who is serving a life sentence. His wife, C.S. Anju, had approached the court requesting ten days’ parole to enable him to attend their child’s choroonu ceremony (first rice feeding).
In her petition, Anju argued that the father’s presence was essential during the ritual. However, the court noted that Sijith had already been granted 10 days’ parole in February following the birth of the child.
Repeated parole not permissible, says court
Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan, while dismissing the petition, observed that parole cannot be granted for every ceremony following the birth of a child, especially in the case of a person convicted for murder.
