Tomin J. Thachankary promoted to rank of DGP


It is learned that he is likely to receive a post outside the police department.

Thiruvananthapuram: Tomin J. Thachankary IPS has been promoted to the rank of DGP. The Kerala government on Tuesday released an order in this regard. His new appointment will be made later.

It is learned that he is likely to receive a post outside the police department. At present, Tomin J. Thachankary is the chief of Crime Branch.

The government order has promoted Tomin J. Thachankary as the DGP to the post of Road Safety Commissioner. N. Shanker Reddy, the present Road Safety Commissioner, will retire on September 31, 2020.

When state police chief Lokanath Behera retires in June, 2021,Tomin J. Thachankary will be the most senior IPS officer in Kerala.

Tomin J. Thachankary had previously served as police chief of Kozhikode, Alappuzha, Idukki, Ernakulam, Palakkad and Kannur districts. He had also served as the ADGP of police headquarters, Transport Commissioner and chief of Fire Force besides working as the head of several public sector companies.

Tomin J. Thachankary has three more years of service remaining.
