Kozhikode: ‘Vidyarambham’ ceremony commenced in Kerala under temples and cultural centres. Lakhs of tiny tots will write their first letters on rice or sand on Vijayadasami day, which is considered as the most favourable day to mark the beginning for learning, by Hindus.

Thunchan Parambu in Tirur, Sri Mookambika temple in Kollur, Vedagiri in Kottayam, Attukal Bhagavathy temple in Thiruvananthapuram, Sri Dakshina Mookambika temple in Kochi, and Thrikkavu Sri Durga Bhagavathy temple in Malappuram are some of the places well preferred by Keralites for ‘Ezhuthiniruthu’. Eminent personalities in literary, cultural and artistic realms will guide the children to put down their first letters at these centres.

A huge rush is being experienced during the initial hours of the ceremony at the centres set up for Vidyarambham in the state. The nine-days-long Navratri festival will come to an end by the day of Vijayadashami.
