Cherthala: The BDJS, an NDA ally, will announce its candidates to the four Lok Sabha constituencies in Kerala on Sunday. BDJS State president Thushar Vellappally will contest from Kottayam constituency.
The party State Committee will meet in Cherthala to take a final decision on the candidacy. In Kottayam, the party is planning to utilise the SNDP’s hold in the district, whereas in Mavelikkara and Idukki, where the party had contested the last general elections, the BDJS is planning to field Independants agreeable to the BJP as well.
Two KPMS leaders are considered for the Mavelikkara seat, while in Idukki, Sinil Mundappally and K Padmakumar are being planned by the BDJS.
This time the party is expected to get either Ernakulam or Chalakudy in lieu of Wayand seat, for which candidate will be decided only after confirmation. If it gets the Chalakudy seat, then Rubber Board vice chairman Unnikrishnan is likely to get ticket to contest, and if it is Ernakulam, BDJS women wing leader Sheeba from Paravur has chances.
Meanwhile, the talks between Thushar and the BJP central leadership are ongoing in Delhi.
