Kochi: Four people remain missing and three were rescued after a fishing boat carrying seven capsized nautical miles from Munambam on Thursday, an official statement said.
Coastal Police said that the three rescued have been admitted to a hospital in Fort Kochi.
According to the rescued survivors, boat capsized when the water entered the boat. People who were held on to the cans carrying drinking water were rescued by those who arrived in another boat.
"Shaji, Sarath, Mohanan, and Raju, are missing. Baiju, Manikandan, and Francis were rescued. The mishap was caused by a fishing boat named Nanma fibre boat which had gone from Malappuram to bring fish from Samrudhi boat. The three victims were rescued by the workers of another fishing boat that passed by the accident site at night," an official statement said.
The fisheries and Marine Enforcement team from Vypin Fisheries station along with the help of a Marine Ambulance and Azhikode Coastal Police started searching after receiving the information about the incident.
Further search operation is underway. (ANI)
