Kollam: Three men were injured in a fight over a family issue. The fight broke out at 11 pm on Saturday in Polayathodu. Kottiyam natives Saleem (54), his nephew Mohammed Tasleek (28), and opponent Alummoodu native Nishad (31) are the ones who sustained injuries.
Saleem’s daughter is living with Chandanathope native Ansar. The conflicts over this have been ongoing for a while and ended in a big fight on Saturday. Saleem’s daughter was living with her children aged ten and five at their house in Kottiyam. She later moved in with Ansar. She was brought back home with the help of their relatives. However, she went missing again five months back. Relatives said that although they filed a complaint regarding this with the Kottiyam police, they did not accept it.
The parents came to know that their daughter was with Ansar only two months back. Police said that both parties had gotten into arguments over this. Saleem and Tasleek were called up to Polayathodu junction by Ansar and were beaten up. Tasleek has suffered injuries to his head, neck and arms. Saleem was slashed across his back and legs. Both were admitted to the district hospital at first and later shifted to a private hospital in Kottiyam. Nishad who was also injured in the fight is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kollam. He underwent surgery on Sunday while being under the custody of the police.
Kollam East Police have started investigation in the matter following the complaint filed by Saleem’s kin.
