Thiruvananthapuram: Congress held a high-level meeting to strategize and strengthen the party organisation ahead of the byelection to the Puthupally Assembly constituency. Senior leaders Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, KC Joseph, and Joseph Vazhakkan will be in charge of the two block committees in Puthupally. Additionally, former DCC presidents and KPCC members from the district will oversee all eight panchayats in the constituency. The meeting emphasised that no comments regarding the candidate selection should be made until the election is officially announced.

AICC general secretary KC Venugopal proposed establishing an extensive charity programme in honour of Oommen Chandy. Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, VD Satheesan, will prepare this initiative.

Furthermore, it has been advised that party members should refrain from forming memorial committees in the name of Oommen Chandy without prior permission from the party.
