Thiruvananthapuram: In an unfortunate event in the capital city, one person has been reported missing in the Amayizhanjan canal. According to the police, the person reported missing in the canal is Joy of Marayamuttom, a temporary staff attached to the cleaning department of Thiruvananthapuram corporation. 

The incident occurred on Saturday morning as Joy was trying to clean up the waste accumulated in the canal. 

Soon after the incident was reported, the fire and rescue department and swimming experts started searching for the missing person. 

The huge accumulation of waste in the canal has been making the search difficult for the swimmers and fire and rescue personnel. As of now, they are trying to remove the trash so that the rescue operation would be made easier. Only if the wastes are removed from the canal can the scuba divers enter the tunnel in the canal in search of the missing person. 

On hearing about the news, so many people gathered at the venue watching the rescue operation anxiously.
