Kozhikode: Yet another incident of botched-up surgery is being reported from the Kozhikode Medical College. Apparently, an implant of wrong measurement was placed inside the hand of a patient, who had undergone surgery for a fracture a week back.

The latest victim is Ajith, a native of Kothi Palam in Kozhikode. He had sustained a fracture on his hand following a bike accident on May 11. A case has been registered in the incident.

ACP Premachandran informed that strict action will be taken if the allegations are proven right. As per the information received, a team of senior doctors have dismissed the possibilities of a goof-up upon preliminary investigation.

The accident happened at Kananchery last week. Ajith was first admitted to the Beach Hospital and later shifted to the Kozhikode Medical College.

Later a surgery was performed and the implant fixed as well. However, during the post-surgery examination, the medico informed that an implant of wrong measurement had been placed inside Ajith’s hand.

The doctors seemingly told the man’s family members that the entire surgery will have to be redone. A letter in connection with the incident has been forwarded to the DMO and the ACP.
