Palakkad: Widespread damages in Cherpulassery, Palakkad was witnessed with the sudden onset of a tropical cyclone. Around 15 houses were partially destroyed as trees were uprooted and fell onto houses in Pallattpady in Chalavara. The cyclone hit the Chalavara area on Monday night at 8 PM.
Two houses were partially destroyed after Teakwood trees owned by the Forest department fell over it. Three vehicles, including two auto rickshaws and a panchayat member’s scooter were damaged by the uprooted trees.
The Chalavara Kubera temple also sustained damages in the sudden cyclone as a tree fell on top of it. The roof tiles and windows of the temple flew off due to the strong winds. More than 20 electricity poles were also broken due to this sudden lash of wind.
Electricity supply in the area has been completely disrupted since Monday night. Traffic was also disrupted due to fallen trees.
