Kottayam: School students will now have an opportunity to visit courtrooms and witness the court procedures. This is being made possible by the Kerala State Legal Services Authority (KELSA) as part of their project ‘Samvada’.
Students from classes 9 to 12, will be able to visit the high court on every Wednesday. Principals of the interested schools can register their slots by sending request emails to KELSA. During their visit, students will also have the opportunity to interact with a judge at the high court.
As part of the study tour, classes will be conducted for students educating them on important legal sanctions and on existing punishments for various violations of law. There will be a class related to psychology as well.
District judge Joshy John, who is the member secretary of KELSA, expressed hope that the programme would help in inculcating high citizenship values among students.
The programme will be implemented at the district level as well.
