Attingal (Thiruvananthapuram): A Class 12 student has written to the Chief Minister, urging him to address safety concerns on KSRTC buses following a severe accident that left him critically injured.
In his letter to the Chief Minister, Navaneet described the distressing incident:

“When I fell from the bus, splinters of glass embedded in my body, all of which were surgically removed. I also sustained a broken right shoulder and continue to remain in hospital for treatment. The bus I was on lacked safety bars near the rear window. When the bus hit a pothole, I was thrown out of the vehicle. Had there been safety bars, my injuries could have been prevented. Bus staff should conduct thorough safety inspections before the buses commence their journeys. Unfortunately, the issue was only addressed after complaints were lodged following the accident. Had the incident occurred during peak hours, the risk to other passengers could have been far greater. Additionally, the condition of the national highway is also very poor.”
He urged the Chief Minister to intervene immediately to address these issues and implement necessary measures to ensure the safety of students and other passengers in the future.
Accident episode
Navneet Krishna, a student at Kendriya Vidyalaya, Pallippuram, was travelling on a KSRTC bus when it hit a pothole, causing him to fall through the rear window.
He is the son of S. Pravinchandra, the ruling CPM Local Committee Secretary from Anchuthengu.
