Kozhikode: Seven schools and 17 Anganwadis in Koothali, Kozhikode declared a holiday due to the increasing menace of stray dogs.

On Sunday evening alone, four people were bitten by a dog in Koothali. Schools have been closed due to the failure in capturing violent stray dogs that roam the area. Works coming under MGNREGA have also been stalled due to this.

Based on the descriptions provided by a child who was bitten, a dog has been caught by the locals.

In August last year, a housewife who was bitten by a stray dog contracted rabies. Despite receiving two rabies vaccinations, she died due to the infection. This fuelled a huge debate during the time.
