Kozhikode (Kerala): An 11-month-old child was killed and several others were injured after a van carrying 18 tourists overturned at Koodaranji in Kozhikode on Saturday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Amitsh Adam, a native of Kalikavu in Malappuram district.

The accident occurred near Koompara in Koodaranji in the afternoon. According to police, the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a sharp turn, causing the van to overturn and trapping passengers inside.
Local residents, along with Fire and Rescue Services personnel and police, rushed to the spot and coordinated the rescue operation. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment.Police said some of the passengers suffered serious injuries, while the condition of the other injured persons was stable.

The child's body will be handed over to the relatives after completion of the legal procedures, police said.
