A five-year-old girl in Kerala was allegedly injured with a hot steel spatula by her stepmother for bedwetting. Police have arrested the accused and launched further investigation.

Palakkad (Kerala): A woman has been remanded to judicial custody after allegedly using a heated steel spatula to burn her five-year-old stepdaughter’s private parts as punishment for bedwetting.
The incident, which took place near Kanjikode in Palakkad, was discovered last week after an Anganwadi teacher noticed the child was struggling to sit down during class. Recognising the girl’s distress, the teacher alerted the local authorities.
Following an investigation, police arrested the stepmother, a native of Bihar, on Thursday. She has been booked under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Juvenile Justice Act. A local court has remanded her to judicial custody for 14 days.
