Action Council calls for a Kerala-wide strike on 28 April over the alleged cover-up and lack of arrests in the death of BDS student Nithin Raj.

Thiruvananthapuram: The Nithin Raj Action Council has called for a state-wide strike (harthal) in Kerala on 28 April. The protest is being organised to condemn the failure of authorities to arrest those responsible for the death of Nithin Raj, a BDS student at Kannur Dental College. The Council further alleges that there are active attempts to derail the investigation by using the "loan app" narrative as a cover-up.
In addition to the strike, the Action Council announced that a protest declaration convention will be held on Tuesday, April 21, at 2 pm. The event is scheduled to take place at the E K Nayanar Auditorium in Putharikandam Ground, Thiruvananthapuram.
The Council expressed strong indignation toward the management of Kannur Dental College, accusing them of an irresponsible stance. Despite numerous complaints from students regarding caste-based discrimination and harassment, the management reportedly maintains that no such issues exist on campus and that the accused are innocent. The Action Council stated that the strike is also a protest against this institutional denial of discrimination.
