Kozhikode: In the wake of the State Government not taking any measures to pay compensation to K K Harshina, who has been enduring several physical difficulties after an artery forceps was mistakenly left inside her abdomen during a C-section at the Kozhikode Medical College in 2017, the protest committee has decided to collect money from the public for further treatment.
A meeting held the other day by the committee decided to raise funds for her treatment as well as legal battle. The fund-raising will start on May 15 from Kidson Corner here.
The police had found in their probe that the artery forceps was left inside her abdomen. Health Minister Veena George who had announced that Harshina will be granted compensation after the police probe report is out has not done anything so far, the committee held. Doctors have advised another surgery for Harshina.
Committee chairman Dinesh Perumanna chaired the meeting in which Harshina’s husband K Ashraf was present among other members of the committee.
