Chennai: Southern Railway has announced special trains from Kerala to ease passenger traffic, in connection with the annual feast of Velankanni Arogya Mathavu.

A special train (06061) will depart from Ernakulam Junction at 11:50 PM on August 27, September 3, and September 10, and reach Velankanni the following day at 3:15 PM. In the return, train number 06062 will leave Velankanni at 6:40 PM on August 28, September 4, and September 11, arriving at Ernakulam Junction at 11:55 AM the next day.

The trains will operate via Sengottai with one second AC coach, three AC 3-tier coaches, eight Sleeper class coaches, and one general coach.

In Kerala, the trains will halt at Kottayam, Changanassery, Tiruvalla, Chengannur, Mavelikara, Kayamkulam, Karunagappally, Sasthamkotta, Kollam, Kundara, Kottarakkara, Avaneeswaram, and Punalur.

Special trains from Thiruvananthapuram Central-Velankanni

Train No. 06115 will depart from Thiruvananthapuram Central at 3:25 PM on August 27 and September 3, reaching Velankanni the following day at 3:55 AM. While returning, Train No. 06116 will leave Velankanni at 7:30 PM on August 28 and September 4, and will arrive at Thiruvananthapuram at 6:55 AM the next day.

The service will operate via Nagercoil and Tirunelveli and will have two Second AC coaches, two Third AC coaches, three Economy Three-Tier coaches, six Sleeper Class coaches, and four General coaches. Reservations for special trains will open at 8 AM on Tuesday. The Velankanni annual feast celebrations will begin on August 29 and conclude on September 8.
