Kottayam: In spite of Kerala Higher Education Minister R Bindu’s assurance that no action shall be taken against the students who protested over the death of Shraddha Satheesh, the Kanjirappally police have registered a suo moto case against 50 people for allegedly blocking the chief whip and the DySP at the campus.
As per reports, an FIR has been produced before the court in this regard. However, Kottayam SP had stated the other day no police action will be taken against the students, which could be detrimental for their future. He added that the case will be examined and a necessary decision will be arrived soon.
On Wednesday, Ministers R Bindu and VN Vasavan had met with the students, teachers and college authorities. Following which, Bindu assured that no action would be taken against the students who led the strike. However, the current police decision clearly proves otherwise.
Meanwhile, there are reports suggesting that the accused hostel warden might be transferred soon. Apparently, the ministers had demanded the warden's transfer during the talks.
A preliminary probe into the case had begun the other day. The Crime Branch is likely to record the statements of the students and teachers on Friday.
