An attempt to murder case has been registered against Thrissur BJP South District President Sreekumar after his wife accused him of brutal domestic assault.

Thrissur: More details have emerged regarding the attempt to murder case registered against a BJP leader in Thrissur following a complaint filed by his wife.
According to the complaint lodged with the police by his wife Priyanka, she was subjected to a brutal assault by Sreekumar after she questioned his extramarital relationship. The complaint also notes that the assault was triggered by her arriving home late. He reportedly beat her while demanding to know if the house was an inn for her to walk in whenever she pleased.
Priyanka filed the complaint at the Mathilakam police station against Sreekumar, who serves as the BJP Thrissur South District President.
Sreekumar allegedly assaulted Priyanka under the pretext that she was late returning to their marital home in Alayil from her parental residence. He reportedly slapped her across the face, pulled her hair and attempted to smash her head against a wall. Following the incident, she sought medical attention at the Kodungallur Taluk Hospital and a private hospital. Priyanka stated that she was accompanied to the hospital by party workers.
Priyanka further revealed that since she decided to move forward with the legal complaint, a defamatory social media campaign has been unleashed against her, causing her severe mental distress. Dismissing the online counter-campaign that claims her allegations are fabricated, Priyanka affirmed that she will proceed with legal action and will not return to live with Sreekumar.
