Kannur/Kasaragod/Thiruvananthapuram: Three students who suffered food poisoning from a fast food joint in Cheruvathur, Kasaragod, continue in the Intensive Care Unit of Kannur medical college. A medical team has been set up to monitor their health.

The body of Devananda, who died of food poisoning after allegedly consuming shawarma, will be handed over to the family after the post-mortem on Monday.

The owner of the Cheruvathur shop will be charged for the death of Devananda. Kalikadav native Kunhammed, the owner of the Ideal Food Point, is abroad. Managing partner Anex, shawarma cook Nepal native Sandesh Rai are already in custody.

Meanwhile, the state food safety commissioner VR Vinod has directed officials to conduct wide inspections in the shawarma joints in the state to ensure food quality. Cleanliness, quality of meat and mayonnaise, and the license of the entity will be verified.
