Kochi: An SFI leader was stabbed near Maharajas College, Ernakulam in the early hours of Thursday. SFI Unit secretary Nasser Abdul Rahman was injured in the attack that occurred at around 1 AM. The student outfit alleges that Fraternity Movement activists are behind the attack.
 
College union chairman Tamim Rehman said that the assailants were carrying deadly weapons. The injured Nasser was first taken to the Taluk hospital and reports indicate that there was a scuffle between the SFI and Fraternity Movement here as well.  It is reported that the attack was triggered by a clash between the two outfits in the college during theatre practice.

On Wednesday, a student attacked a differently-abled teacher of the Arabic department here. Allegations were raised that the teacher was beaten up by a Fraternity Movement activist. SFI alleges that the unholy alliance between KSU and the Fraternity Movement is disrupting the peaceful atmosphere of the campus. 

The police are trying to obtain a statement from Nasser, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Kochi. Reports indicate that the police have apprehended two accused involved with the incident and that they have been charged with attempted murder charges.
