Thiruvananthapuram: Taking a dig at the police report prepared in connection with the ‘Pooram fiasco’, senior Congress leader K. Muraleedharan said that it’s fortunate the police report didn’t blame Thiruvambady Krishnan (deity of Thiruvambady temple) and Paramekkavu Bhagavathi (deity of Paramekkavu temple). While speaking to reporters on Monday, Muraleedharan claimed that by paving the way for the defeat of his own front’s candidate, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had gifted Thrissur to the BJP candidate.

“Now, we should know whether Pinarayi would gift the Thiruvananthapuram corporation to the BJP by disrupting Aattukal  'Pongala’ like he had disrupted ‘Thrissur Pooram’ to send Suresh Gopi to New Delhi. Why was an ambulance brought to the Pooram ground with the BJP candidate in it?” he asked.

“Did the government take the CPI into confidence while preparing the police report? Does Minister Rajan acknowledge this report?” Muraleedharan asked.

“Pinarayi cannot denounce both Sasi and Ajith Kumar. If he denounces them, he should waste no time in going to Raj Bhavan to submit his resignation letter to the governor,” he added.

When reporters asked about the KPCC report regarding the setback suffered by the UDF in Thrissur, Muraleedharan stated that he is not the complainant and that anyone wanting to know about the report should ask the KPCC president. “It’s a fact that the UDF lost its traditional votes in Thrissur. However, the benefit did not go to the LDF. This is where Pinarayi played his trick to ensure Suresh Gopi's victory,” Muraleedharan said.

“We have reservations regarding P.V. Anvar. He is part of the LDF. As of now, the UDF is not discussing welcoming Anvar into our fold. Our allies also have reservations regarding Anvar’s political stance. However, we insist that his allegations against the police and political secretary should be taken seriously,” said Muraleedharan.
