Thrissur: In view of the coronavirus pandemic, prohibitory order (Section 144) has been enforced in Kodungallur taluk here in the district from March 22 to 29.
The famed Kavutheendal and Bharani at the Kodungallur Sree Kurumba Bhagavathy Temple are scheduled for March 27 and 29 respectively. Section 144 has been imposed to avoid mass gatherings for the religious festival.
The Bharani festival is being held at the temple. Over 1,500 people had attended the festival in the last few days. Kavutheendal on 27th and Bharani on 29th are the two most important functions during the festival that attracts thousands of devotees.
As there is a concern that a large number of devotees would come to Kodungallur to attend the festival, the authorities decided to impose section 144.
