Ankola: The vehicle carrying the boom length earthmoving machines reached Shiroor. The machine which was initially announced to arrive on Wednesday for the search of missing Arjun, was delayed due to a breakdown in the vehicle transporting the machine. The machine is capable of searching up to a depth of 60 feet.

Two boom length machines have been brought to Ankola. The vehicle is scheduled to reach the landslide site by 11.30 am. The vehicle carrying the machine broke down 80 km from Shiroor, with a punctured tyre at Yellapur on the Hubli-Karwar road.

Meanwhile, the Drone-based Intelligent Buried Object Detection System (DIBODS) could not be utilized on Wednesday due to delay in the arrival of its battery from Delhi. The battery, being transported by train as it is not permitted on flights, is expected to arrive via the Rajdhani Express on Thursday afternoon.

It appears that the rescue operation using modern equipment will be feasible only from Thursday onwards. During Tuesday's inspection, a radar signal was detected from the dune in the middle of the river. The search will continue in this area on Wednesday, utilizing sonar technology. Arjun's brother has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing search efforts.
