New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Friday refused to stay black sand mining at Thottappally, Alappuzha.
However, the court sent notices to the union government and other parties in the plea against mining.
Advocate Prashant Bhushan for appellant Suresh Kumar asked the court to stop the mining activities of Kerala Minerals and Metals Limited and Indian Rare Earths. According to Bhushan, the union government hasn't authorised mining.
KMMRL argued that mining will help to deal with the floods in the Kuttanad region.
