Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala government employees have not received their salary for the second consecutive day as the state reels under a severe financial crisis. Despite the state treasury approving the pension disbursement for the month, many did not receive the funds in their bank accounts. However, persons with individual accounts in the treasury, such as ministers and staff, have received their salary as scheduled.

The government claimed the salaries were not paid due to technical problems. However, opposition leader V D Satheesan said that the state is experiencing a severe financial crisis, and it was a result of the state government's "corruption, mismanagement and extravagance."

Meanwhile, the Finance Department explained that more funds will be made available at the treasury by Monday to disburse salaries and pensions.
