
Southern Railways has announced the cancellation of 10 special trains for Sabarimala pilgrims due to low occupancy. The trains, which were scheduled to operate during the upcoming pilgrimage season, will no longer run on their planned dates. This move comes as a result of poor demand for the services, which were intended to ease travel for devotees heading to the Sabarimala temple.
The affected trains and their schedules are as follows:
1. Train No. 07167 Moula-Ali - Kottayam Festival Special Express scheduled to leave Moula-Ali at 14.30 hrs on 24th & 31st January, 2025 (Fridays) is fully cancelled.
2. Train No. 07168 Kottayam - Moula-Ali Festival Special Express scheduled to leave Kottayam at 21.45 hrs on 25th January & 01st February, 2025 (Saturdays) is fully cancelled.
3. Train No. 07171 Moula-Ali Kollam Junction Festival Special Express scheduled to leave Moula-Ali at 18.45 hrs on 25th January, 2025 (Saturday) is fully cancelled.
4. Train No. 07172 Kollam - Moula-Ali Festival Special Express scheduled to leave Kollam Junction at 02.30 hrs on 27th January, 2025 (Monday) is fully cancelled.
5. Train No. 07169 Kacheguda - Kottayam Festival Special Express scheduled to leave Kacheguda at 12.30 hrs on 26th January, 2025 (Sunday) is fully cancelled.
6. Train No. 07170 Kottayam - Kacheguda Festival Special Express scheduled to leave Kottayam at 20.50 hrs on 27th January, 2025 (Monday) is fully cancelled.
7. Train No. 07157 Narasapur Kollam Festival Special Express scheduled to leave Narasapur at 13.30 hrs on 27th January, 2025 (Monday) is fully cancelled.
8. Train No. 07158 Kollam Narasapur Festival Special Express scheduled to leave Kollam at 02.30hrs on 29th January, 2025 (Wednesday) is fully cancelled.
9. Train No. 07065 Hyderabad - Kottayam Festival Special Express scheduled to leave Hyderabad at 12.00 hrs on 28th January, 2025 (Tuesday) is fully cancelled.
10. Train No. 07066 Kottayam Secunderabad Festival Special Express scheduled to leave Kottayam at 18.10 hrs on 29th January, 2025 (Wednesday) is fully cancelled.
Southern Railways has cited low passenger bookings for the cancellations, resulting in the decision to cancel these trains ahead of the scheduled dates. Pilgrims planning to travel on these trains are advised to seek alternate travel arrangements.
