Malappuram: The Kondotty sexual assault victim is alive due to sheer luck, district police chief S Sujith Das told media persons here. The boy squeezed her neck and hit her with a stone. He is very healthy though he is a class 10 student. He is also a Judo champion, Das said. The 15-year-old child who is in custody will soon be produced in front of the Juvenile Justice Board after recording his arrest.

The boy had followed the survivor from home. The dress he wore while committing the crime is recovered from his house. No evidence of him receiving help from anyone else has come up so far, Das said.

In a shocking incident, a boy was arrested on Tuesday for sexually assaulting a college student in Kondotty in Malappuram district. He dragged the girl to a nearby farm. He tied her hands after gagging her with her shawl. However, the girl managed to escape him and approached a neighbour for help. The boy was caught following the police inquiry with the help of CCTV visuals.
