Kottayam: The Devaswom Vigilance has issued an investigation report regarding the loss of the gold-covered Rudraksha from Thiruvabharanam (the sacred ornament) of the Ettumanoor Mahadeva temple. The report was submitted to the Devaswom Board President. Devaswom Vigilance SP PV Joy said in the report that it should be determined whether the chain of the temple was lost or was replaced during the audit.
The chain, which includes 81 gold-covered Rudraksha, was presented in 2006 by a former Devaswom Board official. But the Devaswom Vigilance has found that there are only 72 Rudraksha remaining in the chain. The Devaswom Vigilance report also mentioned that the officials of Ettumanoor temple have failed to inform the Devaswom Board about the missing Rudraksha.
The Devaswom Vigilance has issued the detailed report after recording statements of accountants, Devaswom administrative officers and other priests who had been in the temple since 2006. Devaswom Vigilance has found that there was also a loss of about 3 grams from the sacred ornament. The police also have initiated an investigation.
