New Delhi: Kerala has been allotted Rs 65,000 crore for the construction of 1100 km of National Highway in the Union Budget for the financial year 2021-22. This also includes the construction of 600 km of Mumbai- Kanyakumari corridor.
Kochi Metro will be extended by another 11.5 km as part of its second phase. Rs 1957 crores has been allotted for this.
The Finance Minister also announced that Cochin harbour will be turned to a commerial hub along with other major fishing harbours in the country.
Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu has been granted Rs 1.03 lakh crores for the construction of 3500 km of National Highway. This includes the Madurai- Kollam corridor as well. The construction of this project will commence next year. Rs 63,000 crores have been allotted for the extension of Chennai Metro.
