Kochi: Ripper Jayanandan's novel 'Pulari Viriyum Munpe' is about the story of an individual named Chidambaram, a convict awaiting a death sentence in prison. 

In a function held at Ernakulam Press Club, K. Narayana Kurup, former acting Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, released the book. K.P. Rajagopal, who is the father-in-law of Jayanandan's daughter Keerthi Jayanandan, received a copy of the book. 

Jayanandan, an accused in five murder cases, has been in jail for last 17 years.

Keerthi Jayanandan, a lawyer, fought for her father's parole in the High Court. Following this, Jayanandan received a two-day escort parole to attend the book launch.

Jayanandan, who only had a ninth-grade education, developed the habit of reading books from a library at the Viyyur Central Prison. He has completed writing two novels and is on the way to finish another. He also plans to write non-fiction. Jayanandan was motivated to write after transforming himself in prison, according to Rt. Justice K. Narayana Kurup.

The Thrissur native is accused of seven murders committed during several robberies. For the seven murders, including the double murder in  2004, Thrissur Principal Sessions judge sentenced him to death by hanging in June 2008. Later, the Supreme Court reduced the sentence to life imprisonment.
