Paliyekkara: The toll rates in Paliyekkara will see a 15 per cent hike from Thursday onwards. As per the revised rates, the cost for a car trip on the highway will be increased from Rs 80 to Rs 90 for a single journey, while the two-way trip (return) will cost Rs 135 instead of Rs 120.

Meanwhile, the rate for commercial vehicles will see an increase from Rs 140 to Rs 160 (single) and from Rs 205 to Rs 235 (return). The revised rates for buses and lorries are Rs 315 (single) and Rs 475 (return). They were Rs 275 and Rs 415 earlier.

For heavy vehicles, the rate is revised from Rs 445 to Rs 510 (single), and from Rs 665 to Rs 765 (return). As per the rules, the toll company can revise the rates annually based on changes in the national cost of living index.
