Thrissur: In a massive turn of events, the Thrissur archdiocese has dismissed the criticisms levelled against BJP and actor-turned-politician Suresh Gopi in the November edition of its mouthpiece ‘Catholicasabha’.
Archdiocese spokesperson Father Simson PS on Sunday clarified that the comments in the newspaper do not reflect the stand of the Archdiocese.
The article heavily criticized the BJP and Narendra Modi for their silence over the Manipur riots. Furthermore, it also challenged Suresh Gopi to question Modi on his silence over the crisis in Manipur. The article drew widespread criticism from various walks of life, with the BJP even expressing their displeasure on the matter.
Father Simson clarified that the newspaper is not a medium that conveys the official stance of the Archdiocese and that the article was simply a news story about a protest meeting of an organisation under the Archdiocese.
