A woman died and her husband and infant son were wounded in a suspected militant attack on a Manipur village.

Imphal: A woman was killed and her husband and infant son were injured when suspected militants attacked a village in Manipur’s Tamenglong district during the early hours of Sunday, according to police.
The suspected militants opened indiscriminate fire at Tollen Kuki village, situated near National Highway 37 (NH-37), which links Imphal with Jiribam, at approximately 4.00 am.
The victim, identified as Lhingngai, died at her home during the assault, while her husband and baby son sustained injuries.
Security forces deployed to the village following the incident to provide medical aid to the injured.
The Kaimai Village Authority condemned the attack, terming it a deliberate attempt to foster division and discord among communities. In an official statement, the authority called for an impartial inquiry to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
