Kollam: In a major consolation to the relentless search for the 6-year-old child, Abigail Sara Reji was found in Kollam on Tuesday afternoon, according to reports. She was apparently abandoned by the kidnappers in Ashramam Maidanam, a park near here.

Kollam East police have reached the spot and taken custody of the child. The girl presently is at AR camp here. Women cops are also there. The officials have given biscuits and water to the child. 

Abigail Sara Reji, hailing from Ayoor, was abducted while heading to the tuition class with her eight-year-old brother on Monday evening. 

Police initially conducted investigations in Kollam, Thiruvananthapuram districts and bordering areas. Later the officials extended the search to other districts as well. 

The girl was found abandoned in a place that lies just 25 kilometres from her native. The locals came to see the girl by 1:30 pm and intimated the matter to the police. Following this, the officials arrived at the spot and took over her custody. 

Meanwhile, police have not yet given communication on the sequence of events and specifics of the crime. 

The abduction had put her family, locals, and police on tenterhooks. Initial reports indicate her health condition is stable. The development comes nearly 20 hours after the abduction was reported.
