Thiruvananthapuram: Registration Department Inspector General Sreedhanya Suresh signed in their own file of new beginnings: her marriage with Gayak R Chand.

The wedding, which was confined to the simplicity of register marriage held under the Special Marriage Act, was attended by close relatives at Sreedhanya’s house in Kumarapuram. The wedding was limited to a cake cutting ceremony. Gayak is a high court assistant.

Sreedhanya and Gayak both met at the Civil Service Training Centre in Mannanthala. The same year Sreedhanya cleared civil service, Gayak joined the service as a high court assistant.

“All I wanted was a simple wedding after the elections,” said Gayak.

Sreedhanya decided to be an example for others by adopting the service she has been providing to others, which is why they decided to get married to each other without considering things like mangalsutra or muhurtham.

Sreedhanya, a Wayanad native, is Kerala’s first IAS officer from the tribal community. Her parents are Suresh and Kamala. Gayak, a Kollam native, is son of K Ramachandran and T Radhamani.

Minister Kadannappalli Ramachandran was also present to witness the ceremony.
