Chalakudy: The Regional Science Centre, the construction of which has been completed near Panampilly college here, will be opened in the second week of February. 

The science centre will have two science galleries and a 3D theatre. The construction works are nearly complete. 

The Regional Science Centre comes under the Thiruvananthapuram Science and Technology Museum. On Thursday, museum director G. P. Padmakumar and other officials visited the regional science centre to evaluate the progress of the construction works. 

B. D. Devassy MLA held discussions with the museum officials. Following this it was decided to open sections of the Regional Science Centre that has been completed between February 10 and 15.

As many as 4 science galleries are being constructed at the Regional Science Centre. Only two have been completed now. The construction of the remaining two galleries and planetarium will be completed soon. 

The construction of the Regional Science Centre began in 2010. The construction of the gallery building was completed in 2016. Setting up equipment at the planetarium is yet to be completed. The works will be completed in two months, the museum director said.
