Thiruvananthapuram: The state government filed a review petition against the Supreme Court's decision to cancel the re-appointment of Dr. Gopinath Raveendran, as the Vice Chancellor of Kannur University. The petition aims to reconsider the prior ruling of the Supreme Court. The Court nullified Ravindran's re-appointment due to alleged external influence, overturning the High Court's support of the decision.

Despite the re-appointment being authorised by the chancellor, the Supreme Court highlighted undue government involvement, rendering the appointment invalid due to the chancellor's relinquishment of legal authority. The court stated that the appointment process was compromised.
