New Delhi: High posts were awarded to silence and appease the rank holders who were discarded during the interview to the post of associate professor of Malayalam in Kannur University, said Joseph Skariah, petitioner who had challenged the appointment of Priya Varghese, wife of KK Ragesh, private secretary of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, in his affidavit filed in the Supreme Court in connection with the case.
Skariah, the second rank holder in the interview, in which Priya Varghese emerged as the topper, has alleged that, C Ganesh and PP Prakashan, third and fourth rank holders in the list, were given high position jobs so that they would not move court challenging the appointment to Priya to the post of associate professor.
Many in the academic circles knew about the fact that both the rank holders had planned to challenge the appointment of Priya Varghese, he says in the affidavit.
According to the affidavit, C Ganesh was appointed as Controller of Examinations in another university in Kerala and this position is equal to that of a University Professor. Fourth rank holder P P Prakashan was appointed as PSC member. His position is equal to that of Chief Secretary, pointed out Skariah in the affidavit.
Skariah had attended an interview in another university as well, to the post of Professor . The rank list of this interview which took place in 2022 has not been published yet. This is also because of his case against the appointment of Priya Varghese, alleges Skariah in the affidavit.
The affidavit was filed in the Supreme Court by Adv Atul Shankar Vinod.
